This style is made from only seven plant-based, low impact materials: Cotton, Hemp, Jute, Tencel™ Lyocell, Natural Rubber, Corn Feedstock, and Cork.
All fibers used in this product are undyed to further reduce the environmental impact when compared to conventional dyeing processes.
The upper textile is made with 50% hemp and 50% cotton fibers. Hemp is a fast growing and renewable plant that requires little water or pesticides. It is durable, breathable, and has natural antimicrobial properties. The cotton fibers used in the upper are responsibly sourced and grown in a way that is better for the people who produce it and for the environment in which it grows.
We used 100% hemp laces with hand-tied lace ends to avoid the use of plastic lace tips.
The lining textile is made with 50% naturally antimicrobial soft hemp and 50% responsible cotton and reinforced with a 100% Tencel™ Lyocell textile.
We used a 100% jute felt sockliner with a 50% hemp and 50% cotton blend textile footbed cover. The custom stitching
design creates truly unique alternative to a traditional petroleum-based foam insole, that provides support and cushioning.
The outsole is made from 80% natural rubber, 15% recycled polylactic acid made from corn feedstock, and 5% cork. Together, the upper is attached to the outsole with a sidewall stitch and 100% natural latex adhesive instead of a petroleum-based adhesives commonly used in footwear construction.
